    Couples Therapy

    Relationships are a work in progress that need attention, energy and care. However, it is normal for a couple to experience disagreements and encounter a potential crisis. Over time, anger and resentments can lead to negative patterns of behavior. These negative patterns often are so embedded in the couples’ relationship, that it may be difficult to resolve or change on their own. Very often, the couple find themselves feeling depressed and lonely.  My approach to couples therapy is to help couples begin to understand how these complicated behaviors effect the quality of the relationship and find helpful ways to create a more satisfying relationship.

    I am a trained as a Gottman couples therapist and integrate principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy as well in my practice. I will help you identify underlying issues in the relationship and work to find mutual respect and enjoyment of each other. Many times couples come to therapy after having tried other therapists without success. In my practice, I have found that helping couples realize their own underlying issues that trigger the everyday conflicts and cause them to feel more hurtful and angry, to be very successful in helping them to succeed in the goals of therapy.
